SlashKeys Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 6, 2026
SlashKeys is a local-first text expander. We designed it so that we never see your data.
What SlashKeys stores
- Your snippets (triggers, descriptions, and expansion text) are stored locally in
your browser using Chrome’s extension storage. They never leave your device.
- Your settings (on/off state, disabled sites) are stored the same way.
What SlashKeys reads
- To detect when you type a
\trigger, the extension observes text you type into
editable fields on web pages. This matching happens entirely on your device.
Nothing you type is transmitted, logged, or stored beyond the snippet matching that
makes expansion work. Password fields are always ignored.
- The
{clipboard} placeholder (Pro) reads your clipboard only at the moment a
snippet containing it expands, and only if you have granted the optional clipboard
permission.
What SlashKeys transmits
- Nothing, with one exception: if you purchase SlashKeys Pro, the extension
contacts ExtensionPay (our payment processor, built on
Stripe) to verify your license. No snippet content or typed text is ever included.
What we don’t do
- No analytics, no tracking, no ads, no accounts.
- We do not sell, share, or collect personal data. We couldn’t — it never reaches us.
